Initial Ideas for our Thriller Opening Sequence

Sound

The sound is the key to making it a thriller and not an action adventure

The sound will have to be similar to a score, the music has to be ominous and feature dynamic music which builds up to a climatic scene of something going wrong. The diegetic sound has to create fear, such as cold wind noises and dark whispering.

Location!

Where we have decided to film and why?

We have decided to film our Thriller in the park by St. Helier Hospital in Rose Hill. This is because the location is suitable being close to all of us and we think the mise en scene that the setting will create will be dark and ominous like the thriller we are imagining. In the location the street lights will help create a mysterious atmosphere acting as like low key lighting.

Why a thriller?

By George Blewitt, Emma Chapman, Ellie Pullen

and Rosie Winton

So... why have we chosen to do a thriller?

After numerous discussion we decided that making a thriller opening sequence would be the most logical idea. As we live in quite a urban area, we are provided with suitable and typical locations for thriller films. We also decided that during our research thriller opening sequences were most popular for using interesting filming techniques in contrast to other genres. Also the techniques they use in other genres are easily replicated, making it a suitable genre for our film.

Costumes

our initial costume ideas.

The costume ideas are typicall dark but comfortable. The costumes can't be over exaggerated and must look natural. The idea is that a victim will be caught living a normal life and attacked by someone. The attacker could be a proffesional and have quite a dynamic outfit like a suit.
