I have also been neutral about the ethniciy I choose to target my magazine at, whilst statistics show the majority of people who listen to metal are white male people of other ethnicities do still listen to it and I believe that should be represented.
I haven't focused on having strictly female sections of my magazine but instead having articles and a layout appealing to both genders equally as this is what is often seen in the metal genre, there is no male or female bias as seen in genres such as R'n'B or Rap. I have chosen colours and a font that a representative of the genre and not so much a gender as feminine colours such as purple would not be considered part of the metal genre.
I targeted my magazine at people between the ages of 17 to 25 as these are similar to the ages of people that read similar magazines. I also chose to target my magazine at an older audience because the majority of metal fans are over the age of seventeen and if I targeted it at a lower age audience I would have to drop the older target age as less people would enjoy it if the articles were less in depth and more child friendly. I like the way my article is written, it is a very casual style, almost a discusion with the reader and I would feel I may lose that style if I were to target my magazine at any younger an audience. My magazine articles also contain swearing to add to the casual tone and so that would not be appropriate for any younger a person to be reading.
The audience for my magazine are males and females between the ages of 17 and 25. My research has shown this is the age range best suited to my magazine due to the genre of music being like by young adults and not so much teenagers. I've tried to make my magazine appeal to both genders by covering bands in my articles that are liked by females and males.
