I used final cut pro x, the editing software, for the opening credits, to incorporate music into the film, to put edits into the film like fades for example, make certain clips shorter and adjust the lighting and colours in certain shots as sometimes it was too dark.

An area in the film of mine that showcases my editing abilities was adding all of the fades throughout the film the ones at the end of the film I was most proud of myself for, I felt these added to the feeling that Cathryn is now gone and has dissapeared from the rest of the world, I find these fades very effective to the overall narrative of the product and sets the tone for the rest of the film. the fades i mean specifically are the ones where the anatagonist approaches Cathryn from behind with a knife and fades just before he reaches her and the next being when it fades out from the phone to absolute nothingness.

what editing software did I use?

for my thriller film, a great deal of research had to be put into it, for my research, I watched some of the films that would become my inspirations for my piece, this meant that I took ideas from successful films and put them into practice for my scene as they had made me be more creative, for this I used blogger a lot of the time. for the planning side I had to get used to the camera and tripod that I'd be using when it came to filming 'The Pathway', I even had to get used to the editing of the film as well. I had to learn how to put sound on the computer so it could be used for in my film, the editing software i used was final cut pro x.

1. What did I use to research, plan and evaluate my thriller?

2. How did I learn to use the camera and tripod?

what have you learnt about technologies from the process of constructing this product?

I had to be put into a group with Ryan Samuels and Jessica Day and we all had to get used to the equipment we were using. It was good as it gave us a first hand experience with the equipment meaning that when it came to filming, I wouldn't be clueless on how to change the angle or the brightness level of the camera, though a lot of the time it was trial and error for me as I didn't really know at this point what did what. the task that allowed me to get used to the equipment was a preliminary task in which we had to include a series of camera shots and techniques

one of the shots that we struggled with during filming was the POV shot of Cathryn running away from the antagonist in the forest, the POV shot is looking down, the reason for this being difficult was that it was really dark and the camera wasn't filming anything. However we got a torch and made sure it was always directed at the ground while she was running therefore the camera could see the ground and the feet running.

what I learnt about editing from the filming 'The Pathway' is that it can be quite a long and tedious process when making a product, but it's essential to the products success in the cinemas, I think something I was never very good at when it came to editing was getting rid of clips or making some scenes shorter to add effect, I thought that they were necessary but it made the scenes seem too long and boring and overall unfinished, this can be clearly seen in the scene where Cathryn is confronted on the pathway by the killer , however I always asked the other members in the group wasn't necessary in the final product and helped me with that, I was quite good at organizing clips as well as trimming them, I didn't know what to trim but when I was told to trim something I could do it quite quickly.

What did i learn about editing?
