Before we go back over 3000 years ago when the Greeks were said to set sail for Troy. We've got to find out what caused it. Unfortunately, again, it is all related to a God being unhappy...

At the wedding of Thetis and Peleus, all the Gods and Goddesses were invited... all except one: the Goddess of DISCORD. (But to be honest, who would want her there!?) Anyway, to take revenge she threw an apple into the party...

Seems a bit weird? The apple had on it

FOR THE FAIREST.

As Athene, Aphrodite and Hera squabbled...

Zeus avoided answering the question and

sent them to...

A mortal, very handsome man of Troy.

Stupidly he agreed to judge who should keep the apple. (Not realising he would upset 2 very powerful Goddesses - bad move)

Each goddess tried to bribe him...

Athene - WISDOM

Hera (or in our case Juno) - POWER

...but in the end he chose Aphrodite's gift of the already taken, beautiful, Helen. Typical.

So, Paris goes out to capture and steal Helen

Research: The Trojan War

What a Wedding!

just kidding

Before

Before...

THIS ALL LASTED FOR 10 YEARS, UNTIL ODYSSEUS CAME UP WITH A GREAT IDEA

What happened next...

Menelaus flew into a rage and persuaded his brother to get all of Greece together to get Helen back

Did Helen go willingly?

Some say Menelaus treated her horribly, some say she fell in love, some say Aphrodite cast a love spell on her...

Oh, that Trojan really was a charmer
