Alcohol and Sexual Assault Awareness Week

  • 1st time to have Student Leaders learn side-by-side with Faculty and Staff at Flex-Day to prepare
  • Worked with Cabinet, Wellness Center, and Theater Department to create first interactive advertising experience
  • Small group discussions with Alcohol Awareness Speaker
  • Interactive educational activities for Blood Alcohol Content calculators, rohypnol, and knowing measurement marks
  • Had 110 students engage in Sexual Assault Interactive Workshops!

Being a part of Student Senate has positively and significantly changed the lives of all those involved!

Our Semester Initiatives

  • Food and WiFi were the top concerns

  • Jennifer updated us on the positive changes happening with Wifi on Campus

We worked with Vice Chancellor Bauer and

Pacific Dining to include more vegetarian and Halal options. We are now working together to advertise these new options to the student body!

Initiatives

Giving Back to the Community

Multiple visits to Second Harvest Food Bank this semester. Student Senate sorted 3 tons of food for the community.

Our Transportation Initiative is Booming!

  • Leadership Retreat: Learning about privilege, social justice, the social change model, and importance of story sharing
  • National American Student Government Association Conference: How to get students engaged, best ways to advertize, and elections best practices
  • General Assembly: Voted on state-wide initiatives for Veteran's vouchers, LGBTQ programs, and prayer rooms

We've supplied 6,965 discounted rides to Cañada students this year!

Student Leader Benchmarks Achieved!

  • All 20 students passed their 50 question exit examination on Leadership, Mentorship, Community, and Change

Emphasis on Sustainability

Strong Social Justice Foundation in Events

Created Cañada Green Event Checklist with District Sustainability Team and held 12 Silver Level Events

50% of all events put on by ASCC had a Social Justice focus

  • All student leaders gave their end of the year presentations, with the top attributes learned being: self-awareness, better communication, sense of belonging, and understanding of equity!
