Then, make a list of the parts you expect to grow from your seed. Once this is done, we can begin to plant!
What do we know about plants?

Raise your hand when you are ready for a seed.
Plants
SOL 1.4
Compare these two plants, one did not get sunlight and one did.
What do you notice?
Plants need 5 things to survive. Watch and learn.
Now it is time for us to experiment with plants.
I will give you a seed.
In your science journal, make a list of the other things you will need.
Plant Needs
Plants are living things...

Which plant did not get watered?
How can you tell?
and living things have needs.
Plants also have parts.
Watch these radishes grow from a seed to a plant.
The roots are at the bottom.
The flower is at the top.
Why do plants need space?
Can we label them?
The roots have 2 big jobs:
1. they hold the plant in place
2. they absorb water

Can this plant grow in the space it is in now?
The flower holds the seeds.
The seed is the part of the plant that will make new plants.
The leaves are the wide, flat, green parts that soak up the sun and air.
The stem is the part that sticks straight up. What do you think it does?
Do you know why plants need air?
So we know that plants have needs!
there's the seeds
The leaves use sunlight and air to make food.
They need:
Stem
The stem also has two jobs.

2. it delivers water and nutrients from the soil
