One year, she was silently
praying to the statue of
Mary. Then suddenly, the
statue appeared to be
smiling at her!

Therese said, "In an instant Jesus,
content with my good will,
accomplished the work I had not
been able to do in ten years."
Therese Martin died
on September 30th,
1897 because of her
tuberculosis.
Therese had been
becoming ill quite
often, but she
considered it a
spiritual journey.
Therese Martin was born on January
2nd, 1873.
Therese's mother died of breast cancer in 1877.
Therese was diagnosed with tuberculosis. She woke up one morning coughing up blood.
13 year-old Therese had a conversion at Christmastime from Jesus, and she decided to become a Carmelite nun.
She was known for being
extremely faithful to God
and never doubting him
when times were bad. She is
called the "little flower."
She was part of the
Carmelite nuns, which are a group of Roman Catholic nuns worshiping Christ.
