The Iroquo Confederacy or Iroquois league is an association of several that lived through out North America
It Consisted of the Mohawk, Oneida, Onondaga, Cayuga and Seneca nations.
The Goverment would consist of 50 chiefs or Sachems. The desicitions were made on a local level where the decisions were made at large by the community. The majority of every decision made would take 75% of every man 75% of every women to be binded. Women had real power there would be one head mother for each tribe and there say could veto treaties or declarations of war.
The Iroquois confederacy no doubt shows traits that of the american goverment. The Iroquois confederacy had a strong democratic structure that was for the people. There people of power like Chiefs and Mothers but ever vote counted. The way of election was very similair to elections of say a president. Only men could be the chiefs but only the mothers could elect the chief. This whole structure was going on when the europeans had arrived and observed there structure. There is a thesis that a big chunk of the american political system is based around the Iroquois confedracy. There is controversy over the topic and many proffesionals disprove the whole theory of any influence on there political system. The structure of the two are very similer.
