In my intro, you can tell it is a classic story of the weaker being hunted down by the stronger predator. I believe this theme is used in many different professional thrillers. I also believe that my theme and story will help capture the imagination of my audience just as other media products do with similar themes and story lines.
The typical themes used in existing psychological thrillers are also extremely similar to the ones used in my new intro. For example the shots of the protagonist running away scared and the antagonist acting cool and calm knowing he can achieve his goal is present in different forms on many other thriller films. However I believe my thriller challenges and manipulates other psychological thrillers by showing the antagonist as looking quite sane and normal, yet he is chasing after an innocent civilian. In other films they would not use this and instead show quite an obviously mentally ill antagonist killing innocent civilians. Yet I believe my manipulation of this will scare the audience more as they can now relate to the antagonist aswell.
In conclusion I would say that in general yes I have used many typical characteristics that an average psychological thriller similar to min would use, yet I do believe that I have successfully altered some attributes of my own to challenge and manipulate the typical ones and hopefully that will allow mine to stand out from other similar films.
The use of props in my thriller were not the main focus at all. In the very rare use of any props I had they were also props you would expect too see in any professional psychological thriller. e.g. A hand gun, dark sunglasses, black large car. All of these props were used by the antagonist to make him seem bigger and more evil, In my opinion this is exactly what other thrillers do to achieve the same goal.
Costumes are also quite similar to the average thriller film product. A dark smartly dressed antagonist, a unique yet also plain clothed protagonist is shown in many similar movies.
In my opinion I think that my film compared to other professionally made films stands up quite well against them. Yes you can tell my intro is quite obviously done amateur, but considering we had no budget to make our film and were using unprofessional equipment and workers, I still believe it could pass off as proffessionaly made thriller.
What is different? Well I believe this would be the use of a better program to make the titles in my thriller, I think mine are no where near as professional as those used in a professional thriller especially when they use advanced animated ones.
Furthermore the use of lighting in my thriller both replicates yet challenges the usual characteristics used in similar thrillers. e.g. The whole film is set out in the dark musk in the afternoon, this gives a sense of danger and the unknown. However we also see the use of extreme light when both characters are seen in a strong headlight. This overpowers the senses and causes us to subconsciously associate this with hunting an a realisation of no hope, as we see the victim stand their in shock, thing we don't usually see in an average thriller.
Again location is quite different to what the usual is known. My thriller is set mostly on country roads and the forest, something of which is not usually seen when watching a similar film as the psychological thriller film genre is dominated by locations of suburban cities where there are more places to hide and more people to help.
