the Gatling Gun

it was used very little in the Civil War

but was introduced during it. The Gatling Gun

consisted of six barrels mounted in a

revolving frame.

The 1860 Henry Repeating Rifle

These lever-action rifles were privately

sold to the soldiers that could afford them.

The soldiers heard rumors about these guns

that they were the best so people bought

them even if it was the last of their money.

THe colt 1860 revolving rifle

A few of these experimental guns were issued to Berdan's Sharpshooters but due to their unreliability were replaced with Sharps Rifles.

Colt Dragoon Revolver

This gun was a single action meaning you had to pull back the hammer each time you shoot it it was a six shooter. The Dragoon was used by the generals of the south.

The 1861 Springfield Rifle/Musket

this was the most popular gun in the Civil War. Both the Confederates and the Union. More than 400,000 of these were made during the Civil War. With greater range than most rifles of that time, up to 500 yards rather than 200 yards it made it a first choice for infantry members. With interchangeable parts for easy field repair this rifle was wanted by the unskilled, young, boys. Its reliability was tested and the results were out standing with only fouling up twice out of 50 shots.
