Synthesia is used throughout this video in many ways. Through the colours used, the words that flash as they are said by the artist, such as 'boom, boom, boom'. It is also seen through the dancing and the animated lips which occur saying the words. Not forgetting the synthesia which is seen when the drums are played as drums are heard.

Narrative and perfomance

There is not a story to this video.Therefore it is not an narrative it is a perfomance video due to the fact that rihanna uses dance routines to attract her audience,

The star image, Rihanna is constantly seen by the viewer in the video letting the audience know that she is the star and that she is promoting the song.

This video is a amplification video because it retains a link with the song as rihanna is dancing to the music lip syncing to the song, and its cut to the beat of the music, its not illustatration because there is no literal meaning to the lyrics within the song.

mise en scene- The mise en scene is promiscuous outfits

and strangely enough wild animals, giving a exotic sexual

feel to the video.

The video i chose is amplification because,

it still retains a link with the song,

because its cut to the beat, the dance routine is

dancing to the beat of the music and the digital and

lighting reflects to the beat of the song, also lip syncing to

the song.

However she acts promiscuous in the

song so perhaps reflecting the lyrics of the song.

camera- A range of camera angles have been used

but with always with rihanna as the main focus in

the shot. Long shots are used to show her dancing and

medium shots and close ups are used to show the lip syncing.

Editing-

It is fast paced editing and lots of green screen has been used in the making of this video which can be seen throughout it.

Mirror imagary is also used a lot in the video aswell as colourisation throughout.

Super imposition is used also as an effect it creates a repeated pattern.

The male dancer is objectified in the video as

he is the person who is been looked at in a sexual way

as he is an object.

overall this video is very effective because of

the editing.
