GOAL

To find the best grouping strategy for our students, both in academic success and in self-efficacy levels

Final Product

Carol Tomlinson

Teaching to the Middle

We reach the majority of students when we teach to the middle, but we also miss a percentage of students on either end.

In heterogeneous grouping, we can help bridge this gap.

"Curriculum tells us what to teach, differentiation tells us how.”

Finding Your Voice

"Self doubt creates the impetus for learning but hinders adept use of previously established skills."

- Albert Bandura

Grouping By Ability: Our Unique Students

Each student brings different experiences, skills and interests in to the classroom

Student Success

An individual can do this

A group can do this

Every student comes to school with his/her own background knowledge, interests, skills etc.

Why is This Important?

  • After collecting our data, we will employ the most effective strategy in our own classroom

Differentiation: Does it Affect Student Self-Efficacy?

The Road Ahead:

Creating a Plan for Differentiating Grouping

  • We are anticipating a positive, direct relationship between heterogeneous grouping and student self-efficacy

"Faithless is he that says farewell when the road darkens."

-J.R.R Tolkien
