Evaluation of The Main Task

Ideas

We first thought of getting snapshots of gloomy, eerie places. e.g. cathedral castle, but, after some reserarch and used pictures which were taken by a member of the our group and used them still having that gloomy, errie effect.

In our group we looked into

thriller/drama programmes to

show how we could show the same content in our programme.

We used the idea of the suffulk murders which was

involved with Steve Wright. However, we filmed

around the time in which the murders were then

happening and wanted to show a different way from

showing the publics opinions and feelings on it.

This meant that we researched into local news reports and

newspapers.

The newest Sweeney Todd film, staring Johnny Depp and Helena Bonham Carter we used that kind of genre to help us get what we wanted. For example, the soundtracks, we listened and researched those particualr soundtracks and looked into something close it to help with our project. However, we did keep with the original Sweeney Todd opening soundtrack.

Our target audience was from the age of teenangers and above. This is becuase it was investigating and portraying a serious issue about mysterious murders.

Also, the reason why the target audience would be in that catagory, is becuase it would be either unsuitable of too confusing to understand for younger members of the public. As this production was based around a real situation, it was a lot harder to place a offical point on who the target audience is, this is shown from if members of the public were actually affected by this in anyway.

Another Example

Sweeney Todd was one of the best example to use as it was very much related to what we wanted to achieve. For example, we used the opening soundtrack for the start of our production.

However, after researching into the music, the use of copyright was breached which meant that we would have had been allowed to use that product. However, as this is being used for educational purposes, it may be allowed.

Looking back on both of the tasks, I feel like I have progressed a lot on the way in which I look at media and on the practical knowledge of it. However, my oragisation skills were still to be looked at which made it harder to progress onto the next project. this shows that I shall learn from that and will help me later into my media learning.

Technologies

In the space in which we have worked on this production, I have learnt the simple bases on filming. This involved camera angles and reconstructing a news report interview. As getting a tripod was hard to get, the use of freehand was used so steady hand was needed.

Also, using the idea of snapshot photography, I was able to use and explore new ways to improve on my photography as well as putting into other projects I am doing.

The gratification on this particular is to explore the publics emotions on a true, recent story. In this case, the 'Jack the Ripper' Ipswich murders. Instead of showing another reconstruction of what happened, we thought we would go off that mark and explore it even more by portraying how the members of the public would act to the tragedy.

We used the simple conventions around a thriller programme. This means that we used simple music etc. In one location, we used one of houses to bring a sense of comfort but also a sense of that the public were too scared to leave their homes. The lighting was kept to quite dark as we had used this during the whole of the production.
