The audience for this magazine is mainly for younger males due to the fact that the reader profile explains that 69% of readers are male and are, on average, 24 years of age. You can also tell that the magazine is for younger people because the main image is usually of a younger celebrity as many of the current bands and artists are quite young. For example Jake Bugg is 18 years old which is why the majority of buyers of NME are young.

The colours on this magazine are red, yellow and black which are very bold. These colours usually resemble danger, evil or passion which are all factors that NME are trying to portray because the type of music can be quite dark and meaningful.

The main image is of Jake Bugg holding a drink which is iconic and links to the main story that he has overcome his alcohol addition which will make people want to read how and why he has done it.

Institution

The first issue of NME music magazine was published on the 7th March 1952 and the current editor is Mike Williams. The magazine is issued weekly and is sold all over England.

It started as a music newspaper and gradually moved to a magazine format during the 1980s-1990s. When the magazine first began 'The Beatles' and 'The Rolling Stones' were frequently featured on the front cover which attracted a large amount of buyers. More currently, NME features bands such as 'The White Stripes' and 'The Vines' which has boosted their popularity immensely.

Ideaology

The ideology of this NME magazine is to encourage people to listen to different and new bands and artists to expose them to different types of music. It is also informing the public on upcoming events such as concert dates, gigs and festivals which are relevant to the genre because people want to see their favourite bands live.

Another factor that this magazine is trying to bring across is to educate people on current news on artists and bands such as new album releases, tours and information on their lives.

Language

This magazine says "0% Alcohol 100% For Real" which indicates that Jake Bugg could have struggled with alcolhol meaning people will want to know more about his story and how he has coped with his addiction.

It also says "I was happier when I was drunk" which tells us that he must have gone through a hard time and was drinking a lot if the time, the fact that it is his words mean that it is true therefore more people will be interested because they know it isn't made up.

The sub heading of the magazine says 'The 18 year old enemy of the X factor hits America' which tells us that Jake Bugg has had some trouble with the X factor which many people would want to read as the X factor is very iconic and influential in the music industry.
