Front cover analysis

The style throughout the contents page

is quite consistent. They use the same text

and the same colour for the text and the

same colour for the sub-headings.

The mode of address if informal. the

text are exclamatories and are placed

randomly on the page to engage the

reader.

The contents page uses a range

of ways to lure the readers. They

use a large image of a music band.

Also they have a brief descriptions

under each heading of the articles.

The layout of the magazines

contents page is seperated into

two parts. The top half informs

the reader of the free content .

The bottom half is where the

main information containing

the articles are. It also includes

images which represent the

articles.

The masthead follows the usual conventions

of a music magazine as it is placed in the top

corner of the magazine. Also the masthead

is covered by the image of the band which is

what music magazines usually have.

which fits in with the genre of the

magazine which is rock. The image

is on a dark background to make it

stand out. the picture is also taken

for the magazine to show that they

have a specific article for the band.

This will attract audiences who are

fans of the band and encourage them

The editorial follows the forms and

conventions of music mgazines. It

contains the opinion piece of the

senior editor, along with an image of

the writer. The text usualy expresses

the writers opinions of the magazine

it is found within. Furhtermore it is

attraction on the page. This follows

the forma and convention of music

magazines.

This contents doesn't follow the conventions

of and editor's letter. Also the mode of adress

is quite informal as they want to engage their

target audience by using language they can relate

to.

Graphics

The magazine uses a consistent style

throughout the conents page, however

is uses a range of fonts for differet articles

to make it interesting, rahter than loosing

the readers interest. A simple colour scheme

is used for the contents page. All of the text

is in black and is placed on a black background.

The images however are in colour to make

them stand out.

The magazine gives clear instructions

on how to subscribe to up coming issues.

It show images of previous issues and

follows the conventions of music magazines

as it is clear, however placed out of the way

of the rest of the contents page.

with red text and a red banner to make them

stand out, which gives an overall rock feel.

The text on the front cover is quite informal.This would

appeal to thetarget audience as the speech in which they

comunicate is informal.

The contents page uses a range of things

to lure the reader. Quotes are used to

let the reader know what will be inside the

magazine and what the articles will be mainll

about. They also use pictures of well known

artists so people know what the magazine will

be about and will persuade the reader to look

inside of the magazine.

The contents page contains information

on how to subscribe to the magazine,so

people can recieve it when a new issue

released. the instructions allow you to

have the knowledge to subscribe.

The masthead follows the usual conventions of a magazine.

The title is in large font and placed towards the top of the

of the magazine. The title of the magazine is in blue which

would appeal to the target audience of young adults and is

lively and appealing.

There are a list of bands on the bottom

of the page which informs the reader what

type of music magazine is and also informs

them the content of the magazine. For one

of the bands their is an image to go with the

name to show that band is more of importance

than the others which jus have a name

of music whic the magazine is about.the picture is in black and

white in contrast to the overall bright colour scheme. The person

is also holding something which may be their album which they

are promoting. the picure seems to be taken specificly for the

magazine as he may have released a new album, and is making

people aware of this.

the contents page. it has several pictures all

placed across the page. This shows you that

their are a number of artices within the rest

of the magazine.The layout is almost grid like

with the most important articles, the largest,

are placed in the middle.

The magazine uses quotations on the cover

to lure the target audience.the magazine uses

this quotation to attract there target audience,

which is young adults as they may have had

the same experiences and it may appeal to

them.

Apart from the tite the largest piece of text is "GOOD

CHARLOTTE". This is the name of the band who also

feature on the cover of the magazine. This headline

informs the reader of what type of magazine this is and

also grabs the attention of any fans of "GOOD CHARLOTTE".

The freebies that come with the

magazines are free posters. These

will help to lure people as they may

be of peoples idols.

The barcode follows the conventions

of music magazines as it is placed in

the bottom corner of the magazine and

is also acompanied by the price.

The mode of address is quite informal as that

is what appeals to the target audience of the

magazine. They also use exclamatory sentances

as express their point of view, which is another

way to engage the reader.

attention of anybody passing by. This relates to the genre of

the music,whicch is rock,as rock music is quite loud and will

get your attention when you hear it.

magazines as the barcode is usualy placed in

This is the second largest piece of writing after

the masthead and is used to try and engage their

audience. It is promoting the life which is normally

associated with this genre of music.

The magazine has a list of bands and artisits in the bottom

corner of the magazine to inform people about the content

of the magazine and if their favourite bands and artists are

in the magazine. most of the bands fit into the genre of the

magazine apart from one "LIL WAYNE", However this artists

has elements of this genre of music therefore it is still

appropriate to have him in the magazine.

in contrast is quite dark. This feature

reflects the life of the artist, and is backed

up by the different style of pictures.

This side of the double page spread uses quite

bright colours. It uses a blend of mainly black

white and orange . Also it uses different fonts

to highlight things such as the artista name

whic is in bold.

The double page spread uses a consistent house styl;e

through both of the pages, which follows the convention

of music magazines.The colours are consistent and the

light text is used on a dark background to make it stand

out.

By Line

The by line mainly informs the reader

of what the article will be about or who

it will be about. The by line reads "on

the road with Miles Kane",which indicates

that the article will be based on "Miles

Kane".

Standfirst

These pictures highlight the events

of how the music artist being explored

lives his life in music. They include

music concerts everyday activities such as

having breakfast.

The image takes up most of the page on

the double page spread. This doesn't follow

the normal convention of music magazines

as they usually take up half the page and the

rest consists of text.

Standfirst

The standfirst in this case is a date, which introduces the text by including a time, date and location. This informs the reader that the following text will be about that individual date.

The standfirst is the name of

the lead singer. This informs

the reader of who the article

is mainly about.

Layout

The layout is quite typical. There is a large

image of the artist usually embeded within

the text. the text is placed around the photo

which follows teh conventions of music

magazines. The right side howver is quite

unique as it is a collage of images involving

the artist from the previous page.

Quotation

There is a quotation in the middle of the

page to catch the attention of the reader.

By line

The by line is the name of the

band and informs you what the

article is going to be about.

The image has been taken for

the purpose of the magazine.

The image is used to promote the

image of the band and the music

which they make, which can be

anticipated by their body language.
