Sustainability in Chicago

Chicago makes it easy for residents to be sustainable...

especially with transportation...

...but people don't always use it...

bike

sharing

There are cars everywhere!

buses

regional light rail

metro

How can we get Chicagoans to use public transportation more often?

The city can do things to make public transit more desirable than cars but a fundamental change in thinking is needed. As in,

sustainability > convenience

However, the growing population and number of cars is unsustainable. As can be seen by the highway gridlocks during rush hour.

Residents need to make the connection between public transit and sustainability. Right now, it is mainly used for convenience, cost, and to avoid traffic.
