How did you use media technologies in the construction and research, planning and evaluation stages?

Imovie

Imovie was essential during the construction of our short film especially. Because it allowed us to be able to upload all our footage we recorded and put them in the order we wanted, by editing it. It also allowed us to cut down our original footage from 53 minutes down to just 5 min, because we were able to et rid of all the irrelevant clips. Imovie was also an important media technology because we could add a backing soundtrack, opening titles, credits, filters and also images/quotes, all which was vital in order to create the right aesthetics we wanted to portray through our short film.

Technology has allowed for us today not only to capture our moments, but we can now also record them. Not only in basic format but now in high definition. This video camera has been of great help during post-production, e construction and the evaluation questions. Using this form of media technology, it allowed us to take our creativity to a new level, where we could pursue ideas for our short film, and with the extra help of a tripod, we are able to film from many different angles and many different shots. This piece of media technology has been vital throughout.

The IPhone

The web 2.0, has helped us a lot, with our whole media coursework! Without the internet and web 2.0, none of this would be possible. It has helped us to gather research, look on video sharing platforms like YouTube and also help us create our evaluation questions, this media technology has been very vital!

Although these two don't strike as an obvious form of media technology, they have also been vital throughout the research & planning, the construction and the evaluation. The wifi has allowed us to be able to access the web 2.0 and get online in order to help us gain the research, it's done this wireless so know need to always go to the trouble of connecting wires here and there. Also it has allowed us to be able to do more independent work at home as well with the ability to connect with WIFI. The USB leads has helped us especially during the construction and evaluation question because it has allowed us to be able to transfer the video clips from the HD video camera onto the computer easily and without this media technology we wouldn't be able to edit our short film at all, or not on a big screen at least.

YouTube was definitely important during all stages of our media coursework, the planning, the research, and the evaluation questions, as it allowed us to be able to view other short films, and what was available on the 'market' and how to better our ideas and how to create a twist on the common themes out there. Also it allowed us to be able to understand short films better and what it involves as we could see them in action, and get a 'general gist' for them. We could also put our own work on there, the audience research and some of our evaluation questions, and most importantly our finished product, in order for others to view our work and our teacher and examiner. It also made our work easier as we didn't have to type or write anything, we could just film and edit and put it up, it allowed us to show our creative side and a different way to use technology.

Technology comes in many different forms, this makes it harder for you to chose which type of technology to use for what type of situation.

Therefore it can cause a lot of confusion and also may not show your work in the best possible light, because the form of technology was not best suited to what you needed it for.

Third one

If you don't know how to use technology, it can be very time consuming! Because you need to learn how to use it, and your going to be constantly making mistakes, so you constantly have to go back to change it.

The biggest Advantage

Without the technology, none of this would be possible, we wouldn't be able to create a short film with a powerful message for it's target audience! Also media technology all interlink which makes it easier to be able to understand technology and understand how to use it.

With technology, there usually is a creative stop point. This became apparent when we were constructing our film. Some of the original ideas we had in mind to do, we couldn't carry them out because, the technology wouldn't cater for it, so we ended up having to edit it in another suitable manner which would, at least carry some of the ideas we had in mind.

The lagging was a big problem, when using technology. The amount of times we had to wait for the internet to load, or the Imovie to upload our software, and even prezi to move to the next slide, could probably add up to a day!

It takes a lot of patience to use technology, especially because its so beneficial to our media work, in all the stages,research,planning and construction.

Wix was vital for the whole process of my media coursework, the construction, the research, the planning and the whole evaluation questions, because it was the way our media coursework was presented on this online website creator platform. It was very easy to control and edit, we just needed to log on and add to, delete or edit our work, it was also a unique and creative way to present our work. This was essential because with the ease of it, it allowed us to gather lots of research and information during the research & planning section without the worry of collecting it and piling it up. It could just be found on an easy website whenever, wherever, it was also easy for my teacher, and also the examiner to be able to see and assess.

The iPhone has also been important during all stages of our media coursework, through the research and planning stage, allowed us to surf the web, the construction of the film, it acted as one of the props and finally the evaluation questions, because we could record clips needed.
