Parking Lot Safety

Jordan Schools District Issues:

Future Issue: Double

Exits from Parking lot

Solution:

Double lane in, one out at all times.

1- High Volume traffic coming from South

2- Left turn into parking lot.

3- No Crosswalk for students to cross street.

4- School Zone Markings.

1- Entrance Flow from Mustang Trail Way 6000 West

2- No painted lines along drop off and pick up route.

3- Cross Walk sidewalks need to be repainted.

4- Parking.

Solution:

Paint lanes and drop off spots, including raised crosswalks

Solutions:

1- Pedestrian Activated Traffic Signal.

11800 South Flashing yellow, except when activated by pedestrian and during the school time rush. Flashing red coming out of the school parking lot.

2- Middle isle curbing to prevent U turns.

Car Pool Parking

Future Recommendation:

Turn drivers ed range to faculty parking, and current faculty parking into a car pool lot.

Future Faculty Parking

1- Hard to turn left into school. (U-turns)

2- More crosswalk for students crossing 11800 South. (Jaywalking)

3- Poor markings of school zone.

Other Solutions:

1- Community Wide Safety Campaign.

2- Use of school newsletter (Peach Jar, Emails, and phone calls about Safety)

3- School Assembly or MAP time to address safety concern.

4- Ongoing patrol of School Zone by School and City Officers.

Solutions....

1- Right hand turn lane near Seminary.

2- Improve school markings with road signs.

3- Put in several crosswalks.

4- Complete 6400 West

5- Do not approve other Charter School until traffic problem is solved.

6- Observe double entrance.
