EVALUATION 2:
How effective is the combination of your main product and ancillary texts?
There are strong links between our main product and ancillary pieces mainly the correlation of themes connected with eachother.
In the album front cover our theme being surreal is seen with the band members except the lead singer having their heads non-present,this is non-sequitar and it seems absurd to the point of being humorous or confusing to the audience keeping with the theme of surrealism.
When creating the advert we continued the theme of colourful and playfulness as you can see with the geometric repeating pattern of pink, blue, yellow and green Pacman/Space invader type pattern, with its fluorescent candy type colours.
Our target audience would relate very readily to this iconography because it speaks of computer games. These types of patterns and colours are present in our music video linking these together
With the use of stop frame animation in our music video, we used multi-coloured backdrops in the stills frames we conjoined together continuing the theme of our music video.
We also included this video installation called 'Information Superhighway' (Nam June Paik 1974, the Smithsonian Washington DC) which one of us filmed. We thought it was relevant to our music video because of its modern feel and its asethetic look with flourecent tubes and candy colours. A key highlight with our themes.
Images in our Music video such as the 02 Arena lighting sculpture had relevant themes with my digi pack and magazine advert, the fluorescent neon diverse colors achieve a correlation between the video and ancillary tasks which ensured there was a sense of strong band identity throughout.
