Psychographics

We are targeting people with a variation of opinions. The audience needs to have a strong interest in the genre of music and an interest in the culture of council estates.

Socio-Economic Values

The target audience for the music video's are the survivors and social climbers of the values, so the people who like security and routine, and those that are symbolised by status.

Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs

Our audience is for those educated in a specific skill like plumbing, or end education at the end of school.

We are aiming to target the bottom three tiers of Maslow's triangle. This means we are targeting people that feel the need to belong, have a sense of security in a job and to have a home and food to survive.

Sex

Using these demographics I have targeted a precise audience for our video to be aimed at. We hope to attract our main target audience as well as people outside these demographics. Our typical audience will be aged between 15 and 24, outgoing and keen music lovers looking to party and have a good time directly related to their music taste. This is the type of audience our music video will be appealing to.

The song targets both men and women, as the genre is not completely male dominated and is very easy to listen to for both men and women.

Income

Target Audience

The main target for income is those either unemployed or on low income, either minimum wage or just above, so they can also relate to a struggle for money that is seen as a major theme in the music video and the song itself.

Age

To describe our desired target audience, I am going to use a list of demographics and apply our target audience to each of them to fully detail the audience perfectly suited towards our music video production. This is just an outline however and we do wish to attract a large audience of all ages and demographics.

Marital Status and Children

The age for our target audience is limited, since the genre of the music mainly targets young people, so the main target for our music video are people between 15 and 24. However we hope the music video will be viewed by people up the age of 40, but we will not specifically target our music video to people of this age. Therefore we will broadcast the video of music channels such as MTV, 4music and NME.

We are targeting all marital statuses for the music video. This means that we are targeting those married, single, divorced and separated within the targeted age. This also means that there may be children within these families and families with children are still targeted.

Households

The main target for our audience will be people who are living or lived in council houses and estates, so they can relate to the main theme of struggle within these communities.

Social Grade, Working Status and Occupation

Using the social grade scale, we hope our music video will be watched by those people in the range of C1 to E. Our audience we think will mainly be working class so they can relate to the main themes of the video and the struggle of council estates. Occupations we are targeting include skilled manual workers, labourers and those in retail, both full time and part time.
