Design Discovery

  • An eight-day summer camp held in June each year.
  • Students stay on campus in dorms.
  • An opportunity to meet current students and professors as well as other interested and incoming students.
  • The major goal of the workshop is to simulate the information, skill, and intensity required for an architectural education and to give clear insight into the practice of architecture.

Living Learning Community

  • Provides freshmen in the college an opportunity to live and learn together

  • Located in Deavenport and Hull Halls - close to the 24/7 use of the studios in the college

  • Gives access to on-site study areas and provides tutoring/networking opportunities

  • Students in the LLC will all take a Freshmen Year Experience “True Maroon” class (1 credit hour) and Drawing I (3 credit hours)

Interior Design

  • One of just two programs in the nation that requires a studio-based curriculum
  • Only program in the nation to require integrated multidiscipline studios with architecture
  • The program consistenly has a 99% employment rate with the other 1% continuing with graduate studies.

BCS students compete yearly at the Associated Schools of Construction

(ASC) Commercial Construction and Design/Build competitions.

  • Accredited by the Council for Interior Design Accreditation (CIDA) and the National Association of Schools of Art and Design (NASAD).
  • Students gain real-world work experience through an internship before graduation.
  • 100% employment rate (consistently)

Six universities were represented at the 2016 American Society of Interior Designers (ASID) South Central Chapter Career Day. MSU Interior Design students received more than half of the awards.
