As you can see from the poster, the character placed in the centre of the poster is the main attraction of the film, with the supporting cast at either side of the main. The poster shows the main star holding a gun in one hand and a ice cream in the other, i think this represents that the movie has a comic side as the tag line on the poster says "Shoot First. Sight See later." and it has the main title of the film "In Bruges" and next to it in brackets (it's in Belgium) so the movie proves that the film is heavily based on comedy but the poster suggests there's also violence as all the characters are holding guns, but are all formerly dressed which means that they get paid a lot of money for their job from which this poster suggests is illegal and includes violence.

As we can see by this empire magazine the main attraction in this cover is the centred image. The image is a close up of "The Joker". We can tell by this image that the man is disturbed and crazy as we see he is wearing make up which gives him the appearance of a clown, to add to that we see he has 2 scars on either side of his face which would make the audience think that this movie is serious and features violence. The audience would know a lot about this character already as he is iconic ally know for being Batman's Arch enemy. So the audience already know a lot about the character so it will make them more interested in the film as they know more about it.

The trailer above is for the British movie "In Bruges". The beginning of the trailer gets into things quite quickly as we see the first character (played by Colin Farrell) murder a reverend, and then we hear his character describe what he did after murdering the reverend. Then the non- diegetic music starts, the genre of the music is quite rocky sugesting that the genre of the film will be quite action based. The titles start and through comedic phrases used the audience see that there is a lighter side to the film. as the music quiets down and we start to see the Colin Farrell talking with another main character of the storyline and he says a funny line. In between all the dialogue there's more titles that explain the plot to the film to the audience. We can see that this movie is aimed at an older audience as one of the jokes features a lot of swearing which is censored out. After we see the comical side to the trailer we see that the movie still has a serious side, as we see Colin Farrell being chased through the streets of Bruges.

Textual Analysis

this is the trailer for the British comedy "Shaun of the Dead". The trailer starts off serious and confusing as the audience have no idea what is going on as all we see is random images of creatures, crazed people and news flashes. But then we hear a non diegetic voice talking to the audience and the voice sounds comical which makes the audience feel a little bit happier but are still left confused, but the audience stay engrossed as they have no idea what it will be yet. Then we see the two main characters react to what seems to be a zombie attack and the audience now see that the film seems to be a parody of a zombie flick, As the trailer continues we see more jokes (which are created to make the audience laugh which will intice them into seeing the film) played throughout the movie as a montage, while fast non diegtic cheerful music plays over the top of the trailer.

As we can see by this image the centred image is the main attraction. it is in the middle and covers parts of the title. we have a main title which centres in with the image which obviously links with the image. The character in the image is wearing old fashioned clothing with glasses, which represents that the movie must be set in old times mostly around the Victorian times. The character looks like he is a intelligent man by the way is dresses .On either side of the image in smaller images which means that the articles isn't as important as the main attraction. We see that the character has cuts and is bleeding, which represents the film will contain violence and could be for a older audience rather then a family audience.

as you can see in this image the characters are the main attraction, as they are centred in the poster with the title being Adulthood. The characters in the image are wearing the typical chav clothing, with the hoodies, baggy jeans or full tracksuits. This would give the audience the idea the characters in this movie are trouble causing and seeing by the bat on the floor it must represent that there is to be some violence. In the background of the image we see a city with what looks like the sun setting, which i think represents that the trouble and violence happens around the night time of this city. Every character in this poster is quite young probably around the age of 16 to 20,, which could mean that this movie is aimed at and is heavily based on youth culture in the united kingdom.
