For his role in the movie, Hardy had telephone conversations with the real Charles Bronson, before meeting him in person. The movie was filmed in and around the St. Ann's, Sherwood, Worksop and Welbeck Abbey areas of Nottingham and Nottinghamshire.

So far in 2008, vertigo have distributed three titles, a remarkable American debut SHOTGUN
STORIES, the truly outstanding indie rom com IN SEARCH OF A MIDNIGHT KISS by
director Alex Holdrige who has received some of the best critical reviews this year. Also
released THE ESCAPIST, directorial debut by Brit Rupert Wyatt, starring Brian Cox and
Damian Lewis which also received rave reviews rom the critics and fans alike.
Forthcoming release slate includes - Vertigo produced FAINTHEART - the first user
generated feature made in conjunction with MySpace and Film4 will be released later this
year. THE CHILDREN - a chiller/ horror by Tom Shankland, DOGGING: A LOVE STORY by
the award winning short films director Simon Ellis and BRONSON - described by Total Film
as 'next years most controversial movie'.
In addition to its production and distribution businesses, Vertigo has a post production company
based in Berlin - The Post Republic and is a joint partner in the newly formed international sales
company, Protagonist Pictures with Channel Four and Ingenious Media.
Vertigo Distribution operates both in the UK and the Republic of Ireland
In 2006, Vertigo produced three films - a big screen version of the MTV show Dirty
Sanchez, WΔZ a horror thriller set in the US, and Nick Love's Outlaw starring Sean Bean,
Danny Dyer and Bob Hoskins.
Forthcoming productions for 2008 include Tom Shankland's horror film The Children, which
currently in post production, Bronson directed by Danish award winner Nicolas Winding
Refn - also in post production, and two films by Nick Love - a contemporary remake of The
Sweeney and big screen version of THE FIRM which is currently in production.
Vertigo Films is a UK film and media production and distribution company, founded in 2002
by producers Allan Niblo and James Richardson.
In its first year in 2003, Vertigo produced The Football Factory, which entered the UK Box
Office at number 3 and has now sold over one million copies making it the most successful
independent UK film on DVD ever and It's All Gone Pete Tong which went on to win
several awards including Best Film at the Toronto International Film Festival in 2004.
That year three more partners joined the company - Nick Love, whose Vertigo produced
films The Business went on to beat The Football Factory's commercial success on its
release in 2005, Rupert Preston who came in to run the distribution arm overseeing the
release of films such as The Football Factory, critical hit London To Brighton, A Good
Woman staring Scarlett Johansson and Helen Hunt, acclaimed documentaries Joe
Strummer - The Future is Unwritten and In The Shadow of the Moon and the horror film
Shrooms. The final partners are Rob Morgan a private financier and Nigel Williams formally
of Barclays Bank.

Bronson opened in 109 cinemas on the weekend of 20 March - 22 March 2009 taking a total of £276,072 from its domestic box office release. It was released to the North American market on 9 October 2009 grossing $104,979
