PEOPLE MAY BE TREATED DIFFERENTLY BASED ON:
- the neighbourhood you live in
- the colour of your skin
- who you choose to love
- how much money your family has or does not have
- who you hang out
- how you express yourself
- your body size
Sometimes we bully, disrespect and treat others poorly because we see being "different" as a bad thing.
When someone is being bullied around being different ...
But all of that shouldn't really matter. No one should be bullied because they are different.
DIFFERENCE IS NORMAL.
Welcome to a short journey of ideas and questions around being different, being happy, and a respectful citizen of the world.
Being different is "normal"
But we sometimes can treat people who are "different" in ways that are not always nice or respectful.
Think 'Pink' Day Assembly 2014
You can become an ally and friend to a person who is being bullied and make them
feel like the valued human being they are.
Being different is, actually, normal!
It's kind of weird; You're sticking up for someone who is seen as being "different" when being different is actually normal.
Perhaps bullying is the thing that is not normal.
Thanks for watching.
A super thanks goes out to the brilliant and creative minds of
Aasha, Mahmoud, Dylan, Jennifer, Isabella, Saviah, and Tallulah who helped with the putting this portion of the assembly together.
Do not let bullies get inside your head and mess you up. Be your best self!
Be an ally and a friend.
Stand up, RESIST, and seize the day!
