Put the decimal in the correct place BEFORE you begin.

When dividing by a 1 digit number!

Column Method

Decimals

1. Ignore the decimals

2. Count the decimal places in the question.

3. Put the same decimal places in the answer.

Coin long division!

1. Set up the bus stop.

2. See how many of the outside number you can 'fit in the first digit'

3. Put the answer above and carry any remainder.

4. Include a remainder.

5. Or convert into a decimal e.g. 964. 7

1. Line your number up correctly.

2. Leave 2 spaces and then one space for the answer box.

3. Multiply the bottom unit by the top row (Carry small)

4. Put a 0 to show you are working with T's

5. Multiply the bottom Ten by the top row (Carry small)

6. Add the answers (Carry under the line)

For dividing by 2 digit numbers.

1. Multiply the 2 digit number by the value of coins.

2. Subtract the biggest amount you can. (jot down what coin it was)

3. Continue until you cannot take away anymore.

4. Add together the coins you used.

5. Any left is a remainder!

1. Partition the numbers into a grid.

2. Multiply the significant digits together.

3. Add the amount of 0's you have.

4. Add the answers together!
