Is the combination of our main product and ancillary tasks effective?

In my opinion I think that both our music video task and ancillary tasks are effectively linked forming a good combination as they both link with each other through codes and conventions of both music videos, the pop genre and the themes of love and crime. This is also evident in the types of text and design of the CD cover and magazine advert as they feature designs that relate to the theme of crime and the pop genre.

Ancillary Task: Magazine Advert

For our magazine advert we decided to follow the same theme and design we had went with for the CD cover due to the overall stand out design and due to the fact that it relates so well to the themes of the music video and genre of the song. The other addition to the advert is the images at the top of the advert of the actor and actress that played the modern day Bonnie and Clyde in our music video we did this as it is using star image as it helps the audience understand that the music video is about them.

Ancillary Task:

CD covers

One of our ancillary tasks was to create an CD cover for the album our music video would be featured on. The design of the CD cover features a simple black background with white graffiti text and modern random shapes for a street design. The graffiti was chosen to be on the cover as it resembles a modern street theme which is what we did with the Bonnie and Clyde story and graffiti is often related to crime and vandalism as well as the bullet holes on the cover are supposed to relate to the crime theme present in the story. i thought this was effective as it relates to both our music videos stories theme as well as a theme from the pop/hip-hop genre.

Our A2 Task

Our A2 media task was to create an original music video to a song of our choice, as well as to complete two ancillary tasks in a CD cover and a magazine advert to promote the CD.

For our A2 media task we chose the song "Locked Away" by R City and Adam Levine

Music Video Idea

For our music video we came up with the idea to base our story off the crime couple Bonnie and Clyde who were American criminals/gangsters, who are mainly known for the crimes they committed during the great depression. We thought a modern twist on the story of Bonnie and Clyde would and the tradition theme of love found in the genre of pop would fit well with the lyrics of the song, as the meaning of the song is about imprisonment which is the standard to face punishment when committing a crime.
