...so what is a force?

It can be a push

And it can be Balanced...

...equal, in which case nobody 'wins' and there's no movement

or Unbalanced...

...unequal, in which case there's definitely movement!!!

...or a pull

...or unbalanced

Think the big dog could win this if it wanted to?

Forces can be very

large!

...or very

small!

Can you see the force of friction at work in this clip?

How hard you push or pull an object

Mass

How heavy or light an object is

and Acceleration

How fast an object starts or stops moving

are all related!

Force = Mass x Acceleration

Which is easier to push?

Does the snow and ice in this picture make the cart easier or harder to push?

...and what happens if you add more forces?

...or let the force of Gravity work with you?

...or against you?

Sometimes we want to increase Friction

... and sometimes we want to decrease it

...sometimes we want both

The Net Force = 0

The Net Force > 0

Pulls can also be balanced

The Net Force = 0

The Net Force is probably greater than zero
