About Bruny Surin
After settling in, Bruny decided to practice basketball in his early teens before obtaining athletics at age 17 where he was discovered by coach Daniel St-Hilaire. Later then he leaves his coach to be with another coach, Franco Barucci who was italian.He got convinced by the same coach to focus exclusively on sprint events.

In 2009, Bruny became the new 50 meteres record holder (40-45 age group) with a time of 6.15s at the Mc Gill opening.Bruny runs the Bruny Surin Foundation, which aims to promote sports and fitness to children, encouraging them to be their best and reach their full potential. He also promotes and sells dietary supplements.

Bruny won his first medal at a major international competition in 1990 ranking 3rd in 100m, then was aligned with two events at the 1991 world championships, one in Tokyo and the other in Barcelona. He failed to five hundredths of seconds of bronze and was eliminated in the semi-finals 4x100m relay.During his time of sprinting he also achieved some gold, silver ,and bronze medals. He was very successful towards it too. One of the best part of his win in 1998 is that he actually matched Danovan Bailey's canadian record which is 9.84.
