UMD's voter turnout in the last decade has seen its fair share of ups and downs, but why aren't students consistently voting each election?

LakeVoice News did some background research and found the average voter turnout for UMD's Precinct (P-10) was 53.59 percent on any given election year since 2000.

According to the Minnesota Secretary of State office and the Duluth County Clerk's Office, voter turnout has hit an all time low since prior to 2000. Follow along on this interactive map to see the turnout for each election year.

UMD's Precinct (P-10) recorded 1,511 ballots out of 1,261 registered voters during this major election, which accounted for roughly 91.28 percent of the registered voter population.

UMD's Precinct (P-10) recorded 1,187 ballots out of 2,046 registered voters, which accounts for 58.02 percent of the registered voter population that year.

This major election year, UMD (P-10) had 2,238 ballots submitted out of 3,895 registered voters, which accounts for 57.46 percent of the registered voter population that year.

UMD (P-10) voters submitted 1,143 ballots out of 3,685 registered voters, which accounted for 31.02 percent of the registered voter population at that time.

UMD's Precinct (P-10) recorded 2,448 ballots out of 4,371 registered voters in this major election, which accounts for 56.01 percent of the registered voter population that year.

UMD's Precinct (P-10) recorded 964 ballots out of 3,470 registered voters, which accounts for 27.78 percent of the registered voter population that year. This is the lowest voter turnout since prior to 2000.

UMD's precinct (P-10) has 2,795 registered voters as of Sept. 21, 2012. This is average for voter preregistration over the last 12 years dating back to 2000.
