Question Three

Thriller Conventions

Thriller conventions are what an audience member would expect to see within a film of this genre. A form of thriller conventions I used was the use of Iconigraphy. This was shiwn through my use of the masked villian, creating a reconisable character that the audience can indentify easily. It also created a fear of the unkown, adding to the fear.

The use of a blonde female vicitm has been used multiple times within the genre with, Scream and Prom night being two examples. I had chosen to incorporate this within my own to create a sense of vunerability to the main character which thus led to a relafionshio with the audiemce. This made whatever happened to her more impactable.

Thriller conventions allowed me to present to my audiemce a thriller film that met their expectations. By using things such as low key lighting, I could create an atmosphere, and by using another convention such as sound, I could create a fear related suspense that drew more audience in closer.
