Band/Artist- COLLISION IMMINANT
Song: CARRY ME
Genre
Narrative with aspects of performance why? This song is very rock and rock videos have performance in them but the song tells a narrative too so we can incorporate that into our video.
Target audience
The target audience would be aimed at the ages of 16 - 25, aimed at men rather than women. the content would involve drinking and the idea of sex. The views expressed in this song are very adult and a lot of people who are old enough to drink will understand the song and how the artist is feeling.
Setting
This song has many references to drinking and taking me home. I interpret this as he is clubbing/partying and has met a woman and wants to takes her home but “there are some things I don’t want you to know” could mean he is with 1 partner and he used to be very promiscuous before he met her. He is looking back on many years when he was younger and partied. This could be shown by a party setting form the line “place like these you wont forget the people I know I’ve met”. The first verse is slow, setting dark bedroom after a nights drinking, bottle in singers hand remain in this setting till “1.2.3.4”. Other setting could involve a venue where the band is playing for example this could be done in the exam hall.
Representation – costume, make up, group, age, race
COSTUME - Depending on the setting, costumes are going to be different but to create an image of rockers the band should be dressed in punk rock clothing not too dark but dark enough to show they are punk rockers so jeans and black shirt.
MAKE UP – any girls in this video should have dark make up but not to much to make them look too gothic.
AGE – 16-21, sixth formers shown to be having a good time partying and drinking
Gender – the main role is a male, and males are shown as men people who like to go out get drunk and have sex.
Narrative
The Lyrics reflect the life of young people, aged 16-30 partying drinking and having fun.
I would like to make the narrative to the story like a memory that thing singer is looking back to, because he has started to settle down and there are things he wouldn’t want his partner to know “there are some thing I don’t want you to know”.
“I’m sorry she’s sorry” and “turn my head to look away ” this could be an argument between one of the singers exs/ partner.
The music video would end where it began, but when the woman sings to they sing to each other.
It doesn’t tell a specific narrative so can interpret the lyrics and meaning in how we think suits them best.
