AESTHETICS OF MY POSTER

QUICK SKETCH OF INITIAL POSTER IDEA

The shot for the poster will be in a dark environment with trees either side of the running protagonist, i think this will allow people to relate to the feeling of entering the 'woods' at night being scary and sinister, but also will give the viewer a strong insight into what the film will be about. I will include the color red to signify the danger the protagonist will face, i will also include drips to foreshadow the blood which will be split during the film. I will keep the protagonist central shot in the poster making it obvious the film will revolve around him but also to emphasize his minimal size compared to the 'woods'.

INSPIRATION

It is clear from these three thriller film posters that the posters being dark creates an environment usually surrounding the protagonist that seems intimidating possibly suggesting the darkness and problems the protagonists will face during the films, I hope to achieve this in my poster with the high intimidating trees surrounding my protagonist with dark shadows. Like the 'Red Riding Hood' poster my protagonist will be running clearly indicating his danger to the viewer as he runs into the dark woods, who no body would enter if avoidable, this will be clearly shown by 'a danger do not enter' sign in the final poster. I will also include red in my poster like done in these examples as I think it clearly indicates the genre of the film due to red being associated with danger conveying a thrilling film.

TEEN THRILLER FILM POSTER

Tom O'Neill-Poster Plan

INTO THE WOODS

CHARACTERS, SETTING & PLOT

The protagonist in the film (who will be featured in my poster) will be a 17 year old black male named Darren. The story behind him having to enter the woods is that he is being hunted by the local gang as a result of opting out of the gang in order to peruse a career in sport, due to him being one of the best in his district at long distance cross country running. His cross country running ability will be key in his survival during the film as he try's to escape the gang who ultimately want to kill him, Darren will be a lot more adapted to running in the woods terrain due to his cross country running. An army combat knife which he stole from his Dad (while he was operating in the gang) will also be key to him surviving. He first began to become involved in crime joining the gang as his father became an alcoholic after leaving the army and his wife passing away, his father could be used in the film to create a plot twist as he still possess skills gained from being in the army. The Woods which will be featured in the poster will be explained in the film as being dangerous due to many crimes involving gangs around London happening inside the Woods and as a result of that they are now shut to the public.
