If your company or business has been in business for a long time, then usually it means that you are trust worthy because you have been in business for a long period of time also you must have other customers because you actually make some money to continuously run your company, and you have been improving your product over that time.
Ethos is effective because it is a persuasive technique. It helps you persuade your audience because it builds trust. If you are successful in using the persuasive technique of ethos, you are likely to persuade your audience to have trust in you and to like you causing them to believe the words you say.
