Ethos is a type of persuasion strategy that makes its target audience or reader, trust/believe in what you are saying and to believe in what product or service that you are trying to sell them. When you use ethos as a way of persuasion you are trying to build a bond of trust and show that you have credibility to your audience, and that your company or what you are saying is reliable. The audience needs to believe that what they are buying is actually worth buying or what they are hearing is actually true. Ethos is used almost everywhere such as print ads, commercials, products, etc. Some people even try to use negative forms of ethos and try to decrease or talk badly about other companies and try to make their audience not trust them, and so making their own company seem better in comparison. Ethos is sometimes based on your reputation and how long you have been in business for. If you have a good reputation, then most people will go to your company or store to buy things because they trust your product. If your company or business has been in business for a long time, then usually it means that you are trust worthy because you have been in business for a long period of time also you must have other customers because you actually make some money to continuously run your company, and you have been improving your product over that time.

Ethos is effective because it is a persuasive technique. It helps you persuade your audience because it builds trust. If you are successful in using the persuasive technique of ethos, you are likely to persuade your audience to have trust in you and to like you causing them to believe the words you say.
