A goal of ours was to show MAC's loneliness through how we framed scenes, like the image shown, with the use of empty space.
We used a Sony a6000 camera to film our intro, which isn't necessarily a professional camera, but still provides excellent quality pictures and the interchangeable lenses provided variations in focus.
I edited it in Windows Movie Maker, which is somewhat limiting but got the job done.
MAC is our main character. He is an android, which is a humanoid robot. MAC while being a robot, represents the idea of an outcast, and our intro sets him up as a quiet and lonesome character.
The choice of a low key electronic track was on purpose, it goes with the "robot" character and also fits the mood of what's happening on screen.
How to make a robot emotive? We choose to give MAC no dialogue and instead focus on his expressions to coney emotion, which is the purest expression and a visual one for the audience to connect with.
