Transcript: Artifact: The Hunger Games created in 2012 Setting: The Hunger Games takes place in Panem (North America). In Panem, there are 12 districts, each providing resources for the capitol and the people of Panem. The actual hunger game is taking place in an arena just inside the capitol. Circumstances: Suzanne collins was watching Reality TV and a war channel and she then blended them together, including young people in her plot, the hunger games was created. Artifact: The song "revolution radio" by Green Day Released: October 7, 2016 Circumstances/Setting: the whole album is meant to reflect the current state of violence in the United States. Historical: also meant to show the affect of shootings around the United States. Theme: People can rebel in many different ways 1984: Every generation after World War II, because it has lots of allusions and relations to World War II and the Nazis, and it helps to spread lght on the dnagers of that time. The Hunger Games:Young adults/teens, because it targets violence and drama, but it is not for adults or for little kids. Revolution Radio: Teenagers/adolescents who listen to punk rock, adults who listened to Green Day growing up. These were targeted because Green Day appeals to the younger generations sense of anarchy and chaos, while they kept most of their same sound to appeal to the older generation that listened to them growing up. Occasion: Audience Purpose Occasion The theme means that people can rebel in many different ways including physical rebellion, but also things including thoughts or beliefs against the people or thing in charge. 1984: 1984 was written by George Orwell to inform others. He informs them of totalitarianism, and he informs them of his stance against it, because he has experienced it first hand. The Hunger Games: No purpose, just late night television inspiration. revolution Radio: The song was written to reflect the mass shootings in America and the narcissistic media coverage. 1984 Theme Triangle Occasion: Example: Winston not only rebels physically by having sex with Julia, he also commits thought crime against the party by writing in his journal. === Artifact: 1984 created in 1949 Setting: the fictional country of Oceania some time in the future. Orwell, having written the book in 1948 project this future as the year 1984. Oceania is one of three world powers; the other two are Eurasia and Eastasia. War with one or the other world power is constant. Circumstances: The events of World War 2 led to the creation of 1984 Era/Historical Context: This book was written during World War 2, so it takes some direct concepts out of the time period.

Transcript: The National Health Service (NHS) (2015) verify that all patients are individual and so are their needs and this includes their nutritional needs. In order for each patient to recover from illness and get the most out of the treatment they receive their nutritional needs must be met. Patients whose food intake was unsatisfactory would be identified and interviewed informally by the nursing staff to elicit their perception of portion sizes. An open-ended question about hospital food would lead to specific questions about the patient's view of the portion size. Those who think the portion size is wrong would be assured that staff will take note. The dietician would advise on the ideal portion size for nutritional need. Challenges... How will it work on a children's ward? Loss of appetite continued… Portion Sizes In Hospital And Its Impact On Food Waste Currently all age ranges receive the same portion size. Negative impacts – appetite and food waste. Food waste will be reduced Save money Pre and post questionnaire Maintain or improve weight According to a study on “plate waste in hospitals and strategies for change” ‘In one UK study, low appetite accounts for 40% of all patients reasons for leaving food.’ Williams et al (2011) This percentage is really high so by giving the patient the option of their portion size, this will reduce the amount of food wasted. Implementing a set portion size for small, medium and large Ensuring nutritional intake can be maintained with each portion size Patient selecting inappropriate choice Having to choose in advance Staff increased work load Loss of appetite in elderly and adult patients. 3 YEAR OLD During a stay in hospital, it is understandable that patients are not feeling their best; consequently not having much of an appetite. This is very common on the wards as feedback such as this is given on a daily basis. Whether its from just not feeling hungry or feeling nauseous, there are more than one reason why patients loose their appetite whilst in hospital. For our innovation there is little cost that will be involved. Possible costs may include: redesigning menus, training for servers 30% of the food in served in hospitals is wasted In one year the food wasted in British hospitals was worth £28 million But 25-40% of acute hospital patients are malnourished There has been a wealth of studies that have been carried out representing how overfeeding children in their early age can provide them with a greater chance of obesity in later life. Our Innovation... Food Waste… Poor food quality Menu choice- limited options, dislike food choices Plated food systems Inappropriate meal times Ward environment Poor appetite due to illness, medication etc Portion sizes are too large So why is food wasted… The presentation of the portion size could be made more comfortable to the patient by using different size plates so that the food portion looks relatively large or small, in accordance with the patient's opinion on portion size. For some patients whose portions seemed too large, meals would subsequently be served on slightly larger plates to give the appearance of a smaller portion and not present such a visual challenge to the patient whose appetite may be depressed.
