Firstly, hair and make up. We wanted to make sure the vibe and theme were kept throughout the trailer, poster and magazine cover. For example 'Lucys' hair is kept the same (down and messy) to emphasize that shes the unstable villan character and to help with the continuity of the three ancillary texts. If there was a dramatic change in the hair or makeup the audience may not make the link between the three elements and assume they were different movies. Therefore we wanted people to immediately know that they are a package through the similarities in overall appearance of our characters.
In terms of fonts this was the hardest of all the elements to keep the same or similar. I had the decision of having the font on my magazine, poster and trailer the same however after discussing with my teacher and getting her feedback I decided to vary the font types across these two ancillary texts and trailer due to them looking more appealing and eye-catching on the different creative pieces. However I used the same colour (red) for the wording for all products in order for it to be recognizable that the three were linked. Font was also a key element as we had to make sure it was relevant and reflected our genre of a psychological thriller. Not only did I have to take into consideration the genre, but also the plot line of our film, this being said I chose a font that looked like the font that would be seen on the room of a dorm as this is a key element to our film.

The the process of making our trailer, poster and magazine cover we would try to make the three link together much as we could in terms of elements such as; props, hair & makeup, colours, costume, fonts and the main characters themselves. I aimed to apply these different elements to each of the three different ancillary texts.
Colour was a huge factor when considering all three ancillary texts. The 4 main colours used were grey, white, red and black . These colours were repeated throughout all of our material as we wanted the colours to be instantly recognizable with our products to the audience. A lot of successful movies such as Gone girl have used this technique as they have used very similar, dull colours in their poster and magazine cover to give the film more of an appeal and distinct link.
The costumes for our main characters are shown in the trailer and poster. Casual everyday teenage type of clothing are worn and these are replicated in our ancillary text. We have purposefully put 'Lucy' in dark, dull clothing to indicate her role in the trailer and this is also shown on the cover of my magazine by her wearing a black coloured top. In terms of my poster we put 'Molly' in a brightly coloured dressing gown and 'Lucy' in dark clothing to show the contrast in the characters personality. We also used these types of clothing in order to appeal to our target audience (15) when advertising our film on our ancillary texts as this is the type of clothing our target audience would tend to wear and relate to.
