For my contents page, I came up with the idea of having a no emotion, direct address with the audience, image to then contrast the image on the front cover. This is so then there is still an enigmatic feel to the new star rather than having exposed her story fully, straight away which generates a stronger gratification of entertainment for the audience.
Also, throughout the images used in the magazine I wanted to keep the artists glasses on her head to promote a challenge within the pop music genre stereotype due to the modern representation is to have no flaws and unfortunately this is deemed as one therefore by using this to my advantage I have wanted to promote an indirect message to this society to question the reality of this actually being a flaw or not.
The 'head and shoulder shot' allows enough of her to be captured without again exposing everything - the sense of not knowing will keep the audience intrigued.
The DPS, I didn't want to have just a single picture and due to her young age and the redevelopment of Polaroid cameras, I thought a row of them would look unique within a magazine. Each image withholds the same shot type however each is a different action therefore presenting the artistes personality more within photos. Each one comes with a new meaning and the purity of the shoot links to the fact it is her first real photo shoot when becoming the next big thing.
These images also contrast the one on the contents page as the spread of variety connotes the realism of the artiste, allowing the audience to relate with the girl in order to create a fan base for her - which, the magazine is trying to achieve throughout. You can clearly see the enjoyment of her singing through the images but the direct address in the contents page draws the reality back in which comes out in her interview on the double page spread on how she has worked for her dream and it wasn't all down to luck.
Photo ideas
The front cover I wanted to capture the excitement for the artiste and her new success story therefore wanted a more "relaxed happiness" feel for the image. The image the to the right of this (>) created too much of a shadow around it and was the overall "tester shot" due to her head being too close to her arm when leaning - it just didn't fit the criteria I was hoping for on the cover of my magazine.
However, the image at the top of this (^) captured the pure happiness she is clearly feeling. This then, promotes a positive aroma around the magazine as this is the first image the audience is related with so this happiness is ideally contagious and that was the theme I was going for.
I wanted to use a green dress shirt for the artiste as it again challenges generic stereotypes due to both this style and colour being associated with the male sex so these images a quick to depict this.
