Introduction

A couple of days ago we did a lab in class. In this prezi you will see why we did this lab and how it worked.

Materials

Polysaccharides in another tube

Disaccharides in the final tube

Corn Syrup

Oatmeal

Sugar

Cherrios

Flour

Benediots

Iodine

Procedure

Then we adde monosaccharides,

polysaccharides,

and dysaccharides to

the test tubes.

Then to finish it up we put a drop of benidics solution into each tube. Then to see the change it would make we put the test tubes into hot water. The hot water lasted for about five minutes then we took it out. When we took out the mix we had a surprise. The monosaccharide turnd into a yellow. The rest were uneffected. At the end of the lab we put a drop of iodine in each tube. The iodine had a reaction that turned the chemicals brown.

The last step in a lab, is to clean up.

In Conclution

In this lab I learned alot.

We learned the effects

that benidicts solution

and heat has on the

different types of

saccharides. There

chemical properties had

very surprising differences.

The lipids are a large and diverse group of naturally occurring organic compounds.

Fatty acids

People think of lipids as being bad, because they are fatty acids. When really lipids aren't bad at all.

Lipids are a compond that form together because they are insoluble (incapable of being dissolved) in water.

The procedure was pretty

Self explanitory. It started

with gettting three test tubes.

Finished

Fatty acids really aren't bad

Common lipid types include fats, phospholipids, and steriods. Fats store energy, to help insalate the body. Phospholipids serve as major stuctural component. Steriods are in your blood to travel around to cause cells to perform sertain functions
