FILE 4K TRANSCONTINENTAL 2009
FILE: Electronic Language International Festival
For ten years FILE has been the most important
festival of Electronic and Digital Art in Latin America and
from July to August 2009, the exhibition received more
than 40.000 visitors.
In 2008 we projected the first 4K movies for cultural purposes
in Latin America and in 2009 we transmitted the movie
"Enquanto a Noite não Chega", by Beto Souza and Renato Falcão
to UCSD and Keio University.

Future projects:
a) to build a new media and photonics lab at Mackenzie University;
b) to stream film festivals from other countries to Brazil and from Brazil to other countries.
c) to stream the 2014 FIFA World Soccer Cup (Mackenzie University, CPQD, RNP)

As a result, the entire venue brought the attention from the media and more
than 2.000 people attended the two days of the 4K transmission experiment.
We got more than 30 minutes in the most important news in Brazil and more
than 40 programs on TV talked about the film and the transmission.
In the second day, July 31st we realized a teleconference between Keio University,
UCSD and FILE.
The Minister of Culture of Brazil, Mr. Juca Ferreira, was invited and delivered a speech talking about the importance of the transmission for the Future of the Cinema.
In July 30th the movie "Enquanto a noite não chega", by Beto Souza and Renato Falcão
was streamed real time to Keio University and to CALIT2 at UCSD
For this project, more than 60 people and research institutes, universities and companies from Brazil and abroad were involved, such as FAPESP, ANSP, RNP, USP, Cisco, Zaxel, UCSD, Keio and others.
