We chose these specific locations

because they were within our school boundaries as well as this we chose the narrow corridor as it creates an illusion, and it signifies that it is in a pyschiartric ward. We thought that it looks like a pyschiartric ward beecause the colour of the corridor is white and because it is narrow we could get a good tracking shot of the patient.

However when filming our sequence

we came across difficulties within these

chosen location, the lighting in the

corridor was an issue it appeared grey

rather than a bright white that

we hope hoped for.

Final chosen

location:

The element that stood out in these pyscholgical thrillers are the loacations,

we see alot of nature in these films, this shows us that it's easy to access and that

other people can witness what they're doing. These pyschological thrillers are mostly set in houses and are

family orientated so it gave us an idea to film our sequence in public rather than

it being filmed in a room because it made the opening more realistic.

In the beginning of the opening we see the actress writing a letter to the music star, we specifically showed her writing ‘number one fan’ so that audience can see that she is just like any devoted fan, as well as this we used ‘number one fan’ in the voice over not only does this create tension, it also allows the audience to see and hear what is going on, it also allows the audience to get a better understanding of the character, this is a general convention because we hear what the actress is thinking. We specifically used this music because it follows the general convention of a psychological thriller because it creates and also builds tension which makes the viewer very uncomfortable, this sound varies as it is also used in Alfred Hitchcock’s Psycho, in the famous shower scene we hear music not only does this creates tension and is create more drama, it emphasizes on the actual narrative of the film.

We looked at many psychological thrillers,

although three stood out

Psycho

Question 1: does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?

We chose the film name 'Crazed' because

like Alfred Hitchcocks famous film 'psycho' is short yet effective.

Other films that do this are 'Momento', 'Se7en', 'Birds' and many

more. As well as this our main character the hip hop star is called

'Craze' so to call the film 'Craze' made sense

In psychological thrillers the opening sequence is used as a base for a character, in our opening sequence the main focus is the actress, we done this by using different camera for example using high and low angle shots to show her significance in the thriller. This could also be used so that the audience can think about the character. By showing our victim around the same time as our villain shows us that we interpreted the conventions, by doing this it challenges the audience and it also makes the audience want to carry on and find out who the true villain is.
