I tried StickK but it didn't work for me. It was too rigid and too long term. This is day to day ... I love that. It really makes me stick to my goals.
Beeminder really has the right idea for how to set up the incentive structure and give feedback on progress toward a goal.
much more valuable than lots of coupon-social-mobile-photo things that I see in news regularly :)
Also, it feels like a game: you have to do this by midnight or you lose!
Because [these tasks] are so boring, I've lost twice, but now that I have raised the stakes I'm pretty sure I'll keep doing them ;)
Every day, I ponder additional areas of my life in which I might be able to use Beeminder to improve the quality of my life
it's not only good for fighting akrasia, but also for relieving unwarranted anti-akrasia anxiety
Beeminder is HUGELY motivating
Beeminder's method is brilliant for handling fluctuating entities (like money and adipose tissue) and seeing actual progress in real-time, rather than waiting for weeks of data in Excel
great motivational tool
I love your site, and what you are doing is something that can really help a lot of people
Spreading your effort out evenly over the whole semester is crucial and I've found [Beeminder] to be an excellent tool for students as well.
Beeminder holds my hand through the scary bits.
[Beeminder] has substantially changed my general life-flow for the better over the last couple months
Viewing Beeminder's charts reassures me that progress *IS* being made, even though I can't immediately detect the results.
loving the product a lot and happy to be a lucrative customer ;)
I now can make decisions whether to do something or not based on data not just from my gut -- take a look at any of my [graphs], and you will get the idea
I have been able to recreate some pretty healthy habits thanks to you
Automated accountability!
Beeminder: The me-binder!
Flexible self-control!
Reminders with a sting!
I am loving using Beeminder
Data-driven goal tracking!
unbelievably effective
A kick in the pants!
It reminds you and binds you!
Safety rope for slippery slopes!
I've gained a quite concrete appreciation for Hofstadter's law
I'm definitely an enthusiast on Beeminder and have found it become part of my daily process! Great site.
I'm really amazed by how well Beeminder works. Well done!
I love the daily bot reminders, and watching my graph
the gap between my expectation and reality has been quantified
thank you for your amazing work on a tool that I use every day
People are starting to notice my clothes getting looser and I have to thank Beeminder because it keeps me on track
Maintaining a certain average over a period of time is much more appealing (and I think motivating) [than HabitForge or Don't Break the Chain]
keeps me very engaged and focused on my goal
I tell people all the time about Beeminder
I love your program -- it's helping
I'm still a serial procrastinator but those goals I "beemind" always get done. In fact it is a little scary how well it works.
@beemuvi
probably the single best productivity tool I've ever encountered
...given me a boost towards doing the things I want-to-do-but-keep-putting-aside-just-for-the-moment in a way that nothing else has for a long time
These Beeminder.com creators are geniuses
First UVI (2011 Feb 20): Created this twitter acct to log user-visible improvements (UVIs) to Beeminder. (Yes, this is a UVI. Everything counts no matter how small!)
Apr 12: Tweeted about #akrasia via @bmndr et al. Cheap UVI, I know, but we're working our butts off on the back-end.
Apr 20: Typo fix by @thatgirl: "Coasting on a currnetly flat yellow brick road". (Special prize for users who spot typos for us!)
May 27: Visual tweaks: made gray headers slightly darker and removed excess spacing at bottom of 'recent datapoints' sidebar.
Jun 1: Consistent style for hyperlinks.
Jun 2: Swapped the goal/risking/status lines with the graph summary line.
Jun 11: You should never again see Beeminder say "1 more days".
Jun 14: Tweaked font for stats in sidebar.
Jun 27: Tweaked the green for indicating good side of the road. Easier to distinguish from the blue now.
Jul 18: Reminder emails from the bot automatically decay in frequency if you ignore them.
Jul 30: Rose-colored dotted line showing the akrasia horizon. Which is a harbinger of big things on the horizon, Beeminder-wise.
Aug 3: When you don't report, your graph shows you flatlined up through today, but stops if you go off the road or hit your goal.
Aug 5: Signed in users have a Road Dial (not really a dial) to adjust the steepness of the Yellow Brick Road as they go.
Aug 10: Signed in users will see a reset button to try again when you go off your yellow brick road.
