Impressionism...

Impressionism is a style of art that first came about in the late 19th century.

Impressionist artists use their art materials in dabs or strokes of color, to give the idea of the reflection of light. The colors impressionists use seem exaggerated and vivid. This gives the viewer the feeling of just glancing at something for a moment.

Van Gogh was a very famous impressionist painter. You can probably recognize some of his work. Do you know what this painting is called?

Monet is another famous impressionist. Here are a couple of his paintings. Notice how the light seems to reflect off of what he paints.

After painting, we will be weaving

a tree to go with your background.

Here are some examples:

For your impressionistic project, you will

be creating a landscape, using acrylic paint.

When you do this, remember to

EXAGGERATE color, and use DABS or small

strokes of color. This should be fun! Get

examples of impressionistic landscapes.
