Bengal Tiger
Appearance
Enemies
- Bengal Tigers are Mammals and belong to the cat family.
- They are the second largest and most common tiger
- Their head and body are usually 5 feet to 6 feet long
- They usually weigh 240-500 pounds
- Tigers are usually orange with black stripes but they can also be white and black and yellow with amber stripes.
- Tiger cubs are vulnerable to large
predators like hyenas and lions. Half of
all cubs don't make it a year.
- Adult tigers are threatened by humans.
Both poaching (killing tigers for sport) and
the growing human population (cutting down
or moving into tiger territory) has decreased the
tiger population drastically.

Food
Reproduction
- Tigers are carnivores- they eat other animals.
- They usually eat wild boar, deer, antelope,
and water buffalo.
- They travel many miles to find food
- Their stripes camouflage them.
- They stalk their prey and then pounces on its
victim, biting its neck.
- They need almost 15 pounds a day to survive but often don't eat for a couple of days and then stock up on food.
- Females start mating when they are 3-4
years old.
- Males start mating when they are 4-5 years
old.
- Females have a litter of 2-6 cubs around
every 2 years.
- At one year, cubs can catch their own small
prey.
- At two years, cubs leave there mother.
Home/Behavior
- Tigers are found mostly in India
- They live in grasslands, rainforests, and mangroves.
- They are born very playful and play fight as cubs
- They are solitary animals and usually hunt alone
but sometimes travel in packs.
- They are nocturnal animals- sleep during the day and hunt during the night.
- They use mostly sight and sound to hunt.
