I have read, monsieur, your new book against the human race. I thank you for it. No one has ever used so much intellect to prove us beasts. A desire seizes us to walk on all fours when we read your work. Nevertheless, as it is more than sixty ears since I lost that habit, I feel, unfortunately, that it is impossible for me to resume it.

Rousseau's Point

  • Own Land
  • Needs Supported
  • Have Money

God makes all things good. Man meddles with them and they become evil. He forces one soil to yield the products of another, one tree to bear another's fruit. He confuses time, place and natural conditions. He mutilates his dog, his horse, his slave. He destroys and defaces all things; he loves all that is deformed and monstrous; he will have nothing as nature make it, not even man himself.
