Meetings

  • Once a month - starting in September
  • Tuesday mornings before school
  • Responsible members make sure they attend, take notes, and report back to their class - and book buddies.

Voting

  • 4th/5th grades vote for executive officers
  • Classes vote for representatives

Running for Office

  • If you choose to create a poster for officer positions, you may show it during your speech **We are not hanging them up this year
  • No bribes
  • You are representing yourself as a leader at Gold Rush!

What will Gold Rush Student Council be doing?

  • Building ourselves as leaders
  • Building spirit and collaboration within our school
  • Building community
  • Choosing a charity for the year

What is a leader?

Basic Information:

  • One representative from each classroom
  • President and Secretary = 5th grade
  • Vice President and Treasurer = 4th grade
  • Everyone campaigns for their elected office

Speeches

  • Up to 2 minutes
  • Representatives give speeches to their classes - picked by Friday, August 28th
  • Officers give speeches to the 4th/5th grades - assembly @ 1:55 in the gym on Tuesday, August 18th - your class will vote by Wednesday afternoon
  • Practice!
  • Parents can attend the assembly
