1. Learn what PubMed is.

2. Conduct searches with keyword and MeSH.

3. Access full-text articles retrieved from PubMed.

4. Apply limits to modify the searching.

5. Create personal MyNCBI account

What is PubMed?

--A database developed by the National Library of Medicine.

--A place to look up biomedical research publications.

--A free, searchable database.

--Accessible from all over the world

What is in PubMed?

-- Covers about 5200 medical journals

-- Contains references of the literature back to 1940s

-- Small part of health related articles from non-medical journals

-- But no book chapters or dissertations

Why not ?

-- Information is unspecified

-- No quality control

-- Inefficient and overwhelming

-- Limited full-text access
