The Film

The title of The Film that we're going to create an opening sequence for Is gonna be called High School From Hell because we believe it will show and represent what we're trying to portray in our title sequence.

The opening sequence of the movie we're going to make is gonna be about the three girls who are shown to be the popular group of the school and the one outsider of the school who doesn't really fit in with any of the social stereotypes within the school, so the boy is therefore bullied for being different from the others and for being shown to be lower than than the rest of them in hierarchy of Teen schools. The movie gonna be shown as a light hearten take on stereotypical American teens with humour and comedy throughout.

Type Of Title Sequence

Representation

Our group have decided and choose to use a combination and mixture of a discrete and narrative title sequence. As the font will be discrete but there will be a narrator on top of the moving images as it tells and shows you the plot of the title sequence. However, we are also deciding that if we should involve animated captions on the moving images to give it a more high school effect and result to it.

We intend to stick to the conventions we see on a daily basis, as it clearly shows and portrays the basic stereotypical groups you normally see on teen title sequence. There are various of real title sequence that had influenced and inspired us to create our own title sequence. The main real title sequence that has influenced us to get our initial ideas for title sequence is breakfast club, Juno and mean girls.

The characters that will be introduced in our title sequence are:

Stacey

Sally

Shaniqua

The different social groups that are evident in our opening are 3 young teenage girls: Stacey, Sally and Shaniqua who are seen as the popular girls that everyone seems to admire and see as them as the 'cool' girls. Then there is Tom who is the nerdy boy who is the quiet and loves to be in the background. The 3 popular girls will be portrayed using camera editing as we will mostly use wide shots and shot reverse shots to show how hey are always in a group together and how much they are dependent of each other. We will use MES by having the girls in fashionable clothes. All characters will be seen in a school. Different types of songs will be used on the characters to show the difference in their music tastes. For Tom we will use lots of close ups and mid shots to show his emotions and how he is feeling. We will also use books and glasses to show his intelligent side. We will represent these social groups stereotypically by showing glances of them being popular, stupid and mean for the girls and nerdy, smart and quiet for the Tom.

Sub-genre of Teen Films and Themes

Institutional Detail

The Sub-genre of teen film that we have chosen is High School Drama!!!!!

We looked at different high school drama opening sequences to help see what our opening sequence could/should look like.

We liked the looks of opening sequences from:

Mean Girls

We liked the Mean Girls opening sequence because it had humor and comedy. We liked the fact that it showed the stereotypes of people. It showed what types of stereotypes we could do. The humor was a big part as we love to make people laugh and happy. so it gave us an idea on what humor is needed in a teen drama.

Not Another Teen Movie

We liked the opening sequence for Not Another Teen Movie because of the humor. The humor was not like other movies, it made fun of other teen movies. this made it noy only unique but made it fresh which we really like.

We liked these two opening sequences the most because of the humor and the fact they showed the sterotypes of goups yet made them work really well without offending people.

The film we're making will be an independent movie because we're only students we will have a low budget and without big companies such as Marvel we wouldn't be able to afford the big budgets they have, which is why they have better actors and sets and production teams when it comes to their movies when in comparison to other independent movies such as Honey trap.

The companies that will distribute and produce our film will be ones created by ourselves like how movies such as Honey Trap used crowd sourcing to fund their own movie and the ownership of the companies will effect the title and the credits we have because big companies such as Marvel will have a much longer title sequence and credits because they can afford a much larger production team whereas other independent movies may have a larger production team but less cast and so on.

Technology Skills

Audit

Mercia

By the process of planning my title sequence, i have learn't various of different technology (hardware and software) to create our title sequence. The mains one i have learn't is garage band and motion.

Nazmin

Each ones of these different technology allowed me to involve music and title credits in our title sequence to make it look more dramatic also it gave it a more professional effects and result to it as a final piece. Furthermore, each of these technology had developed our project as it made it look more interesting and intriguing to watch as a title sequence.

Liam

Through the process of developing our title sequence I learned a lot of new technologies such as Garage Band, Motion and through this Prezi I also learnt how to use that efficiently

Jessica

Through using Prezi we were able to present the work we developed efficiently and it made it easer to organize the posts we had completed, motion and garage band also taught us how to edit our title sequences with the use of sound.

Audience detail

Risk Assessment

Our core target audience is mainly female teenagers in school as they are more likely to relate and connect to our title sequence. Due to the fact that the main plot of our film that will be introduced in our title sequence, more people can relate to is as they have or known someone that has gone into the same problem that was established in our title sequence. And of course our wider target audience is anyone who wishes to watch our film as they are genuinely intrigued and interested by the

main plot of our film that will be shown in our title sequence.

Furthermore, as we are producing an independent film we need to create as much publicity and awareness for our film to attract them to our film. Our group can address our target audience in our title sequence by showing a short scene about each stereotypical group that will be represented in our film. Also by that quick glance of each stereotypical group they can voice their thoughts an feelings so they target audience can relate and associate more with.

During the filming part of the film we will most likely come across many different safety risk that we will have to find solutions to and overcome them, For example:

  • The Weather is a risk that we will have to learn to over come because if It rains we will be using a lot of expensive equipment that could get damaged by the rain and would cost a lot to replace and make filming our film almost impossible, to prevent this we could film inside where we're at less risk of damaging the equipment.
  • Location is also a risk, whether we're filming at a place with heights or a place where the equipment and are well being are at risk. In order to prevent this it is more about deciding whether this risk is actually worth taking and if it is debatable it most likely isn't a good option.

The Pitch

Production Schedule

Title Credits

Mise-en-scene location & setting

Cinematic details- Full Storyboard or Animatic

Our title credits intend to look a bit animated to fit in with the high school theme. It will look fun and bold to catch the audience in the first second. We would like our title credits to go over the moving images to make it look more dramatic and give it a more professional effect to it. A title sequence that we are comparing to our own is the film Juno.

Our group has decided to create our title credits in motion as it is a great way to use motion graphics tools for creating eye catching titles, transitions and effects.

We have chosen to use our old secondary school as our location as we have studied there and we know all the places insde the school and it goes well with what we want for our film. As the film is abour school girls who bully a boy in school. We will also ask the school if we can borrrow some of their uniform therefore it can be more realistic.
