Progress Review Blog
How successfully do you think your blog details
the research, planning and construction stages
of your music video?
I researched into the effects that
we wanted to include into our music
video.
- The smoke effect- My blog posts looked at how much this would cost, where we could buy it from, and I also looked at things that could go wrong such as wind blowing the smoke out which wouldn't make it effective on camera. Plus the risks of us using this effect.
I looked at why we wanted to
use this effect and we even tested it out to
see how many we needed and what it would
look like.
I analysed music videos that used this
effect and how it looked in the camera.
Which was helpful in deciding how we
should include it into our filming shoot.
I talked about the risk
of using smoke bombs,
and reasons why we didn't
end up using it through an
animation package
I also looked at the pleaseantville effect
to plan costume and mise en scene so that we can use this effect when editing our music video.
I researched previous student videos
and looked at how they used this effect so
that I could plan what color we would want to pick up on, and compare this video to ours in my evaluation.
I did detailed research into black and white
music videos that influenced our planning.
I looked at recent videos by female artists: Beyonce and Rihanna who used this black and white effect in their music videos. I made sure that when researching black and white music videos I looked at which album the single was placed in, and how the ancillary product linked with the music video. This was because my project is expected to do this.
How happy are you with your individual
blogging so far, in relation to the targets
you set yourself?
I think that I have been producing many individual blogs, which is from me taking my own initiative by blogging off the task sheet itself. I have been researching and planning into the artists image, branding, and the filming locations my group chose. My main targets were to make sure that I was using different technology in my blog posts to make it more dynamic and innovative to look at. I am really pleased with my progression and me meeting this main target.
I have blogged 44 posts off the task sheet given to me and individually have 78 blog posts.
Which blog posts are you most proud of and why?
I am particularly pleased with my research into independent artists, and freelance music producer blog post. I included my own documentary that I edited on final cut pro. It included music and titles. I screen grabbed emails, twitter pages, blackberry broadcast messages, plus I included embedded videos, and
photographs. I made sure that I clearly linked my research into the planning and preparation for my music video and ancillary product.

Here is the link for that post.
I am also proud of my research into independent
artists blog post. I talked about the similarity between
my new artist and starboy nathan. I felt that it was important to see how hard it is for new artists to succeed in the music industry.
I am proud of my photoshoot session blog.
I looked at different artists how the pose and how the images were edited. Now my group don't have to
worry about images for our ancillary work.
I like this fake facebook profile
I made for my ideal target audience.
It is innovative and different.
Which post do you wish that you
put more effort into? Why?
I wish that I put more effort into my pleasantville
effect research by looking further into the tools
on final cut pro, and practicing shooting and editing
it using this effect.
I also wished that I did a more detailed analysis of lyrics blog post, by screen grabbing lyrics and annotating them using highlighter and arrows.
I am happy with the progress of my blog
during the research and planning. To add to my feedback for my final cut I'm making a vox pop questionnaire which would add to detail of my research and planning.
