Read Bettany Hughes' Helen Of Troy,

Watched other documentaries

Read the Odyssey

Watched Troy (the movie)

Looked at resources online

Overall since I have decided to go with my Helen of Troy idea as a theme/motif I needed to make it clear. The continuous chorus seemed like a better idea to establish this theme rather than establishing it in the other different scenes.

To make my outfits look like stereotypical ancient greek outfits I looked at documentaries and movies to see how this era was presented via THE MEDIA. I also have read Homer's Odyssey and applied my knowledge from this too when pondering about outfit choices

It became apparent that ancient greece was represented main through ivy covered statues and golden colours via the media...

However I also had to find outfits that were flexible to move and dance in so the dance could be seen as sensual and dynamic...

Since Kat and Sam will be standing on either side of Meg and I need Meg to stand out it important that their outfits do not overshadow Megs and they must look the same/similar so Meg can contrast against them since she is the protagonist....

From reading Bettany Hughes' book Helen Of Troy and reading the Odyssey and watching Troy the movie I have realised that in Ancient Greece women were seen as more attractive if they had paler skin and this is why many statues were carved out in ivory etc. Helen was seen as not only white and pure but golden. She was said to have golden hair golden skin and be shimmering with al her jewels and dresses.

This is what makes this dress ideal as it is golden and does shimmer like Helen of Troy would have done. She is described as a bedazzling queen etc...

I have found a golden hairband that my protagonist may wear like Helen does in the movie. Furthermore since the dress is quite low cut is is quite sensual which is what Helen of Troy also connoted.

The dress is ideal to dance in too and to make it have connotations of ancient Greece I will pin on some of the fake ivy I have to make it match the other dancers costumes and for her to stand out. Hopefully then it will be clear that my protagonist really is Helen of Troy.
