& many story lines
(some left unfinished)
Falstaff is a crazy knight who tries to convince Mistress
Ford and Mistress Page (two wealthy married women)
to have affairs with him in order for him to gain
fortune by mooching off of their husbands wealth
btw...his plans never really work out...
he just gets made a fool alot...but wait a minute
and you'll find out why!
Falstaff writes the 2 women love letters and asks his "henchmen" to deliver them...they refuse to help so Falstaff leaves them.
For revenge Nym & Pistol tell the women's husbands, Ford and Page, about Falstaff's plan
Page could care less, but Ford is jealous and goes undercover to see what his wife does......
When the letters are received,the women get together and
find out they are being played. They are not interested in
him, but for revenge for his indecent assumptions they
pretend to respond to his advances.
meanwhile
3 people want to marry Page's daughter Anne
- Slender- Master Page's choice
- Doctor Caius- Mistress Page's choice
- Fenton- Anne's love
Hugh Evans tries to get Mistress Quickly
to put in a good word for Slender with Anne.
Doctor Caius discovers this and challenges Evans
to a duel
the Host of the Garter Inn prevents this duel
by telling both men different meeting places.
Evans and Caius decide to work together to gain
revenge on the Host....
the 2nd time Falstaff went back to meet Mistress Ford,
Mistress Page came in yet again to warn of her husbands
coming. This time the women dressed Falstaff up as Ford's
aunt (whom Master Ford hated). Upon seeing the aunt, Ford
chased her out of his house while beating her!
As a "final attempt" to see each other, Mistress Ford tells
Falstaff to meet them in the woods late that night. The two
merry wives dress local children up as fairies and dwarfs to
attack Falstaff and scare him in the forest.
Mistress Page tells Caius that Anne will be wearing green to the
forest, so he should steal her and run off to be married....well
Master Ford tells Slender to do the same thing, only Anne will
be in white....but Anne knows of her parents plans so she wears
neither color and marries Fenton!
In the end Falstaff is a rather good sport and plans to pay back everything he mooched off of people. Anne and Fenton get married. Slender and Caius end up stealing two young boys while in the woods and one of them doesn't notice until AFTER he had married him...
......although Anne's parents aren't thrilled about her marriage
choice, they accept him into their family
AND THEY ALL LIVED HAPPILY EVER AFTER...ISH!

The first time Falstaff meets Mistress Ford, Mistress Page runs into the room
warning of Ford's approaching. To hide Falstaff, they put him into a
laundry cart with dirty laundry. The servants take the cart and dump
the contents (including Falstaff) into the river!
